Eastern region finds its representative contestant for Mr and Miss Ability Uganda in Mr. Ariko Hillary from Soroti and Miss. Namulondo Safiya from Mbale.
Over the weekend, the search for Mr and Miss Ability Uganda 2022 commenced at Mbale city for the regional auditions. Hosted by Mbale Courts View hotel, the team attended a workshop on embracing accessible tourism for the inclusion and employment of young people with disabilities in the tourism sector by Ekula tourism.

A guest stop at Dreamland gardens to talk about the pageant to young people with hearing impairment at the digital literacy and skilling training by NUWODU yielded interest in the regional auditions for beneficiaries Hillary and Safiya who turned out to be the eventual winners of the Eastern regional auditions.

Besides digital literacy and skilling, contestants received knowledge in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, accessibility audit, confidence building, social etiquette and mental health to build their capacities as young people with disabilities.
After the crowning of the Eastern region Mr and Miss Ability Uganda, the team proceeded to Gulu in search of the Northern region representative to the pageant. Hosted by BOMAH hotel, in Gulu, auditions were graced with the presence of Miss Tourism Uganda, representatives from Mega Fm, Chimpreports and Gulu Union of Disabled Persons.
Mr. Jonathan Lukuya Labona and Miss Judith Anena emerged winners in the Northern regional auditions for Mr and Miss Ability 2022.

Mr. and Miss. Ability Uganda is a flagship project of Unique Abilities Foundation Africa (UAFA) and is in its second year.
